Out of Despair

I can hardly write any more, knowing my grandchildren will experience global environmental, economic, and social meltdown.

I could cry, I'm so disappointed in Obama. Every day, he seems to step further backward into business-as-usual. How did we ever come to hope that one person could break free from the corporate dictatorship that "our" government has become?

But I will try. Reading, weeding my poor veggie garden, and sitting are just not enough.

On December 6, 1992, I heard that Hindu nationalists had destroyed the Babri mosque in Ayodhya, in Uttar Pradesh. I thought of all of Gandhi's work. For this to still be happening? And then suddenly I knew that we all still have to keep learning to practice, as well as promote, nonviolence. Because we simply cannot do otherwise.

I will try to keep remembering that moment of clarity and not give in to despair.

Dennis Is Still Right

He saw it all coming and warned us. Nobody listened. They invaded and occupied a country that posed no threat to us or any of its neighbors, with the sadly predicted results.

Dennis Kucinich continues to be right. And now, most Americans agree with him: We should stop funding the war - and bring the troops home, NOW!

More than half the country knows by now that this war was based on lies. Over 3630 of our kids have already died for these lies. NO MORE MURDERS of our CHILDREN! There is ENOUGH MONEY already to bring these kids home. DO IT TODAY!!

Our continued occupation of Iraq continues to escalate the violence there, now higher than ever since the surge started. The American people connect these two facts. Why can't anyone in the administration or their media lackeys get it? What blinds the other Democratic candidates? The Speaker?

They WILL NOT SEE as long as their salaries and campaign funds come from the defense industry. This refusal to see and take action makes them complicit in this crime. They participate in murdering and mutilating our children by the thousands; murdering maybe a million innocent Iraqi men, women, and children; embroiling the region in chaos; and, by the way, making our own country hated worldwide and infinitely less secure.

All to keep the military industry growing, eating up all funds that could be spent on health care, jobs, new energy technologies. THIS is where YOUR tax dollars are going.

Go back and study what Dennis Kucinich has said and written. Read his positions and House floor speeches on the most critical issues today. Watch recent videos of this man in action, at his best -- today and every day -- continuing to speak out clearly in the House of Representatives.

There IS someone among us who has detailed, practical solutions. Congressman Dennis Kucinich, from Ohio's 10th district, really is America's Most Courageous Congressman.
